The Four Horseman Of Apocalypse And The Devil Analysis
One topic I found interesting from this chapter was the artist Durer. I liked his pieces The Four Horsemen of Apocalypse and Knight, Death, and the Devil. These paintings do indeed show his love of what the Bible teaches. These woodcuts and engravings make you want to look deeply at the paintings to discover the message they hold. Knight, Death, and the Devil gives a lesson that is hard to stay true to for every Christian whether they realize they need it or not. Wordly views and ideals surround a person every minute of everyday of his or her life, which can seem overwhelming and very difficult to fight against. Yet Durer is so true to his beliefs and love for the Scripture that he creates an image to show how important it is to not let the world dictate how you think and act. …show more content…
If somebody came up to me and asked me if there was an artist that I thought would be good to show to Christians and non Christians, I would suggest Durer's The four Horsemen of Apocalypse and Knight, Death, and the

Part 1: The Devil in the White City Reflection The Devil in the White City, by Erik Larson, is a book focused largely on Chicago in the late 1880s’, during the industrial revolution. The book really seems to focus on the darker parts of the revolution. This differs from many other tellings of the time period, as the majority of articles and books seem to focus on the growth made by America in the time and how much our country benefited from the industrialization of the world.…

A few miles from Boston, in Massachusetts, there is a deep inlet winding several miles into the interior of the country from Charles Bay, and terminating in a thickly wooded swamp, or morass. On one side of this inlet is a beautiful dark grove; on the opposite side the land rises abruptly from the water's edge, into a high ridge on which grow a few scattered oaks of great age and immense size. Under one of these gigantic trees, according to old stories, there was a great amount of treasure buried by Kidd the pirate. The inlet allowed a facility to bring the money in a boat secretly and at night to the very foot of the hill. The elevation of the place permitted a good look out to be kept that no one was at hand, while the remarkable trees formed good landmarks by which the place might easily be found again.…

Initially what caught my interest were Strobel 's "court room" questions with experts in the book, rather than logically bulldozing his way to solutions. To name a few, he grills Catholic lay philosopher Peter Kreeft about the problem of evil, Indian-born evangelist Ravi Zacharias about Christian exclusivism, historian John Woodbridge about oppression in the name of Christ, and other authorities about the truth of miracles, God 's callousness in the Hebrew Bible, the Justice of Hell, the challenge of evolution, and the struggle with persistent doubt.…

This information is very detailed and provides suggestions for the type of material that can be used from the gospels to assist with this unit along with key events in Jesus’ life. By using the suggested events as a starting point, students learn about the people involved in key events in Jesus’ life, where they occurred and why they were important. They can then look at Jesus as a Jewish person and the types of cultural events that were important to Jesus as a person and also look at the political climate of 1st century Palestine to understand what life would have been like. This allows students to see Jesus as a real person responding to events that happened when he lived and further understand why he responded to these events the way he did. From this, students are able to achieve one of the outcomes of the unit, ‘identifying the cultural and historical influences on Jesus,’ along with a number of learn about and learn to outcomes. While Jesus being a devout Jewish person is looked at throughout these pages it is not the central focus of the…

Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 is more than just a readable and teachable short novel that generates much classroom discussion about the dangers of a mass culture, as Charles Hamblen points out in his article "Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 in the Classroom." It is an excellent source for showing students the value of studying an author's use of specific allusions in a work of fiction. While writing excellent social criticism, Bradbury uses several direct quotations from works of literature, including the Bible; a careful analysis of the patterning of these allusions shows their function of adding subtle depth to the ideas of the novel.…

We, as Christians, should study secular literature because it challenges our minds and builds our faith. God constructed our minds so that we can determine what we intake as well as what we put out. We choose how we use the information, where our thoughts go, and how to seek wholeness in our education. Our education trains us on how to successfully face life, and how to apply what we learn to our "life's real, practical issues". In seeking a holistic education we are also seeking God's wholeness in our lives. As we learn we are provided many examples of education throughout history, the greatest is in the teachings of Jesus Christ.…
