The GIM is a model used in practice that describes a step by step direction of how to undertake the planned change process that is usually directed towards addressing problems (Kirst-Ashman & Hull, 2012). Made with the intention of being able to use the GIM in every type of situation and problem, the GIM is made up of three major features, one of them being its seven step planned change process. With that being said, the seven steps of the planned change process will be described in further detail, these include engagement, assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, termination and follow up. Being that many of the clients at the facility are affected by dementia and many do not see the staff every day, re-introductions are also necessary to continue the engagement process. In order to build rapport with the client, the agency emphasizes the importance of talking, especially letting the client talk about themselves. Letting a client talk about themselves and letting them tell their stories helps build the trust and bond needed to work with the client. As mentioned earlier, many of the clients tend to forget who is who, therefore, the engagement process is really a never ending process as establishing rapport is an ongoing process that may be done through simply talking to the client, introductions, or joining the clients while in a
