He’s basically shooting through all these obstacles just to get to Daisy, even spending his own money, and quite alot of it. Another theme is deceit, and lying, which, once again Gatsby seems quite interested in lying to people. He lies to Daisy, and Nick to get Daisy to like him. He lies about his wealth, and about his parents, and many other things. Deceit is also a reoccuring problem with Gatsby. On page 40, it talks about Gatsby’s ammenities such as his Rolls Royce, and how he uses objects to get Daisy’s love, however Daisy just doesn’t feel the way Gatsby does about her, and this tears Gatsby apart.
