a kind. Gatsby seeks pure romance, heroism, but in fact he is delusional to not realize Daisy was also a wanted gal who was courted with plenty of men at the time when she had met him. When a person is smothered with attention their personality is shaped to be spoiled and selfish. In addition, Gatsby wanted to change his past because he wanted to be part of the “old money”, and what he lacked in the past which is himself as a person and the love of his life. He did not consider that there is always a reason why the past is the past, and repeating could be the same results. Also, Gatsby wanted to redeem himself by achieving the assets to provide Daisy that he is now able to be in her life. However, it never occurred to him that Daisy's life might have changed over the year they have not seen each other. He is pursuing his dream to be with her, because he is deeply focused on how valuable she is to him, and wants to be a part of her world. When an individual was stuck in the past, they do not enjoy living in time and consistently thinks about the past. In Chapter IV of the text, Daisy expressed drunkenly, “Tell ‘me all Daisy’s change’ her mine. Say ‘Daisy's change’ her mine!’” (Fitzgerald 80). This passage shows the true feelings for Gatsby's, but when she sobered up she got herself together to continue with the wedding. When a person is intoxicated their point of view changes in life. Daisy wanted to settle down and Gatsby's was not there for her when she needed him. Gatsby's could not be with Daisy because her interest and life changed when she became married. She cannot be selfish and leave her family for a relationship that she wishes to have, even if she's miserable she's willing to stay with tom because of her reputation. For numerous years Gatsby waited for the moment to see Daisy, but his assumptions on how his desire of being together can not be achieved.
There are several reasons for this assertion. First, Gatsby exerted hard work to gain riches, because he believed acquiring the ideal home and possessions will lure Daisy back to his life. Not only is he blinded by his dream, but he thinks being with Daisy is his only solution to his resolution to his happiness. When an individual is obsessed with an idea; they take control to pursue it until they are
satisfied.
