What I learned from the pursuit of happiness in American literature is that you are trying to be happy but it doesn't always work that way. One person happiness is always from another person's happiness unless they like to do the same thing. Not only is that person's happiness unique but the pursuit of it can be unique also. Some people will try to reach their happiness their entire lives and then when they achieve it. It's not what they even want it to be. Your pursuit of happiness can come in so many ways like just from the littlest gestures that some says to you can make you happy. Like in the Great Gatsby Jay wants to be with Daisy. That is his pursuit to happiness to be with her. He becomes rich to hopefully attract her and has big parties just hoping she will show up but she never does so Gatsby ends up losing his pursuit of happiness. Gatsby lost his happiness because he went to war and when he came back she was married to another guy and later in the story he finds out that they have a kid. You find out in mice and men that their pursuit of happiness changes to because they dream of having a different life. Every person in the American literature wants to follow their own desires in life not for somebody to pick their happiness for them.
