In this part of the text from the novel it is shown how Gatsby makes a schedule for him self and the looks at what he needs to do to improve him and how he will do it. This thinking process which is talking place in Gatsby’s mind shows that Gatsby represents the Age of Reason. Romantic era is another writing trend which is shown by Gatsby. This era is defined as having everything being perfect and living happily without any problem. In the novel Tom Buchanan’s living style represents this era because he has really big house. He has no problem with money and where he got it from unlike Gatsby, who gets his money from bootlegging business. He is also a really smart person because we were told in the novel that he was graduated of Yale University. This perfect life style of Tom Buchanan represents the Romantic era in Gatsby. Also one of the other trends, Realism is represented in the novel by Wilson. Realism can be defined as living the reality rather then perfect life with out problem like Tom’s life. In the story it states that Wilson is rally poor. He owns gas station and he doesn’t make that much. He is being cheated on by his wife, Myrtle. These are the problem which Wilson faces in the novel. He is facing reality than imagination like Tom. This is how Realism becomes part of Gatsby in terms of writing
