The Greatest Influence On Gabby Douglas's Life
2. The person who had the greatest influence on Gabby Douglas’s life would be her family. Gabby had said, “When I fall, it’s my family that picks me up.” Gabby would always look at her mother and siblings for help no matter what was happening. When Gabby went to the 2016 Olympics and was not as good as she was in the 2012 games. The negative feedback Gabby received after the games included people commenting that she did not deserve a spot on the team. Her mom stood up for her every time she got hurtful comments, by telling people that no matter what they believed at the time, she was still one of the best gymnasts in America. Gabby Douglas's later stages of life were spent dealing with hardships. It has been recently discovered that the United States of America’s female gymnastics team was sexually assaulted by their team doctor, Larry Nassar. Nassar would assault them during every single checkup or physiotherapy appointment they had. Larry had his favourite athletes and would book longer sessions with them, so he had more time to assault them. Gabby was not favoured, although she had at least one physiotherapy session per day. The first time Gabby was public about the assault was during her interview after the 2016 Olympics. Gabby mention that she and her teammates, Aly Raisman, Simone Biles, and McKayla Maroney were getting assaulted. About three months ago almost every single gymnast had come forward and said, “I am a victim, We Stand Together, WST.” Gabby and her team went to court against Larry and each of them shared their testimonies about what he did. Larry is now sentenced to an extended 175 years in jail, which means sentenced to life. Gabby is now trying to live a normal life, after all, she endured from Larry Nassar. Gabby once went undercover in Shoppers Drug Mart to surprise all of her fans. Many people eventually recognized her. Gabby also coaches at some gymnastics summer camps for a week or two. In Pennsylvania, there is a camp called International Gymnastics Camp, which Gabby coached at in the summer of 2017, and will return in 2018. With all of this happening Gabby is continuing her life

One option is for victims to sue the DA in an attempt to compel him to prosecute, but this would be costly and proving dereliction of duty would be difficult. The DA is effectively immune. Other options are more promising. The law should encourage (and prosecutors' offices should welcome) private preparation of criminal cases. Prosecutors' budgets simply do not allow vigorous prosecution of all the available criminal cases. Logic and evidence show that in private law, plaintiffs win about 50 percent of the cases that are tried. This is because the parties are more likely to settle lopsided cases out of court. Public prosecutors, by contrast, win far more than 50 percent of their trial cases because they have budget constraints and so elect whenever possible to go to court with only the cases they are likely to win. Victims should be allowed to hire private attorneys and other professionals to prepare cases against the accused and thereby extend public prosecutors' resources. The attorneys can be retained pro bono (for the good) or for compensation. This is already done in some white collar cases where financial complexities exceed the prosecutors' expertise, such as complicated embezzlement cases, some oil and gas swindles and cases involving the misapplication of construction trust funds.<br><br>At present, many cases are never prosecuted for one reason or another. For example, in about 40 percent of federal embezzlement and fraud cases, charges are dropped because of insufficient evidence to convict, given the resources at hand.85 In some instances prosecutors "deputize" attorneys to try cases, too.
