The Hero's Journey In The Odyssey By Suzanne Collins

The hero’s journey has been used for many centuries and has even been used in Homer’s epic The Odyssey. Like Homer, Suzanne Collins accurately portrays the process of the hero’s journey within The Hunger Games series.
Starting with the beginning of the hero’s journey, the ordinary world is the first stage in the hero’s journey where the hero/heroine is in their normal life. In The Hunger Games, this is the beginning of the book when Katniss, the heroine, is going through her normal day, hence her talking so casually on the first page (The Hunger Games 3). This first stage lasts until the reaping happens, which is the next step in the hero’s journey. The call to adventure is when the hero gets called in some way to start a journey.
