For instance, one of the current issues in the media is the “Black lives matter movement” . The black lives matters movement was initiated as a result of law enforcement targeting and racially profiling black, young individuals who were killed for no reason. As a result, violent protest have occurred to raise awareness against racial profiling. Another example of the racial bias that still exists is immigration racial profiling. In 2010, Senate Bill 1070 (SB1070) was approved, SB1070 allows police to determine the immigration status of someone arrested or detained when there is “reasonable suspicion” they are not in the U.S. legally. SB 1070 is controversial because it affects American citizens that are protected under the American constitution based on racial profiling. The issue with SB1070 is that it allows law enforcement to subjectively determine citizenship based on profiling. According to Pew research , in 2001 hispanics were 19 times discriminated prior to SB1070, after the approval of SB 1070 it increased to 23 times, leading to multiple law suits filed against by American Civil Liberty Union (pewresearch, 2010) . There are many different forms or race discriminations that continue to exist. On the job race discrimination is another form of racism that effects our nation. As stated by William A. Darity Jr. of Duke University, refrecing the black community, “the last to be hired in a good economy, and when there’s a downturn, they’re the first to be released”. Pew research support this statement by a research done in 2013 unemployment statistics. In 2013, jobless rate among whites was 6.6%; among blacks, 12.6%. Over that time, the unemployment rate for blacks has averaged about 2.2 times that for
