During her imprisonment in Auschwitz-Birkenau, she was herded naked into a gas chamber with hundreds of others. She walked out of the gas chamber alive, and she did not know that the Nazis were trying to kill her until a woman said that she was just in the gas chamber. Before she was in Auschwitz, she was sent to Plaszow concentration camp where she survived for two and a half years, until she was marched to another camp. She also survived testing by Josef Mengele, the infamous Nazi Doctor. She was in Auschwitz for two months, until she was sent on a death march to Buchenwald and then to Belsen. In Belsen, she shared a barracks with Anne Frank. When Belsen was liberated she showed a young British officer around the makeshift hospital where she worked, and six months later, they got married. To this day, she is still haunted by the deaths of others, and feels as if her families’ and others’ ghosts are haunting
