My dad went out and cleared our driveway several times during the storm. My brother shoveled some of our neighbors’ driveways for money, which is, by definition, a small seasonal business. But the question is where do we get the materials to make our homes in the excellent condition that I observe every spring? The Home Depot, of course (and Lowe’s but we’ll ignore them for now). Winter is the time for home improvement companies, and despite the snow the Home Depot did continue to be “the biggest home retailer in the world.” In the span of a year Home Depot has increased it’s gross profit, which is the money a company has earned not including any expenses or taxes save for the cost acquisition, from 7.1 billion dollars to 7.5 billion dollars. That is a decent increase and shows that the Home Depot continues to improve in the art of gaining capital. The net income also shows improvement increasing from 1.3 billion dollars to 1.7 billion dollars. On the other hand, the Home Depot did loose 1.5 billion dollars of cash on hand.
