Katniss Everdeen was a sixteen year old girl that lived with her mother and her little sister Prim in District 12. Katniss’s family…
Why is it that when a book gets it’s own movie that there are several differences between the book and the movie? Some people argue that the book is always better than the movie. There is a reason for this. Firstly, in most book to movie adaptations small details are changed or are just not included. Secondly, the movie often takes short cuts and doesn’t touch on certain aspects that were described in the book. Lastly, when reading a book you are free to make your own subtext and fill in the blanks with your imagination. The movie adaptations of books have always lacked the detail that's in the book, some things are completely cut from the movie to maintain a well paced story, and it fills in the gaps for us making the experience less unique.…

“‘I volunteer!’ I gasp, ‘I volunteer as tribute!’”(00). This quote shows how much she truly cares about her sister and how much she wants to protect her. She is willing to sacrifice her own safety, and take on even more of life’s more difficult obstacles to make sure her sister is truly safe. Katniss knows that she needs to win the Hunger games for her family, and surviving the games is just an obstacle in her path to see her family again. Katniss and Rainsford are not that different. they are in similar situations, Except one is legal and the other is not. There is a political figure trying to kill them in both of the stories. If we were reading the book there would be a lot more similarities than now. Katniss Everdeen and Sanger Rainsford have an extreme likeness.…

In the beginning, Katniss was just a girl from the Seam, willing to do whatever was necessary to keep her family alive and well. She was civilized, albeit rough around the edges. When she went to the Capital, she became what society would think of as a girl, with the dresses, and the makeup and the hair done well, using utensils neatly and being totally normal. She was a member of society by all accounts. As her time in the arena drew closer, she became more accustomed to the Capital and its ways, she became softer, more adapted to the comfort of the Capital, with its rich food and lush quarters.…
For Katniss, survival has become more than just hiding out and avoiding the Careers; she recognizes that truly to survive, she must play the Game to win. Now in the Catching Fire book, “A mockingjay is a creature the Capitol never intended to exist. They had not counted on the highly controlled jabberjay having the brains to adapt to the wild, to pass on its genetic code, to thrive in a new form. They had not anticipated its will to live.” (Katniss 92) Katniss is talking about the mockingjay, the iconic symbol of the rebellion, but she may as well be talking about herself. The spirit of resistance and rebellion is alive in Katniss, though she doesn’t yet realize it. She survived her first Hunger Games despite being from the poorest District with, historically, the least-prepared tributes. Like the mockingjay, no one expected her to survive, but she was able to adapt to survival. The tributes themselves are symbols of a war fought 75 years ago, and their deaths serve as a reminder of the power the Capitol wields. However, the Capitol underestimated Katniss’s own will to live, as well as her defiance. Katniss is more than a symbol she is a human being. She has grown up under the Capitol’s rules, and now they are forced to contend with…
Katniss is an independent survivalist, lethal, but good at thinking outside the box. Katniss's past hardships (her father's death, mother's depression, and near starvation) have made her a survivor, and she will endure hardship and hard work to…
In the novel The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins a new country is created. Panem is born in place of North America, were the Hunger Games began. In the Hunger Games, there are 24 tributes. Tributes are people who live in the districts. The tributes in the Hunger Games are all the same. They kill one another and become the Capitols puppets. The tributes become violent, emotionless puppets. Then there is Katniss. Katniss is an excellent hunter and becomes lethal during the games. However, she has not lost her compassion. Katniss does not think of herself as a good person. When in reality she is a good person with a large heart, who puts others before herself.…
There are many differences and similarities found between “The Hunger Games” book and movie. These changes affected the characters as well as the readers for example on the train ride home peeta never found out that katniss was playing the love act so petta believes katniss loves him. There are lots of similarities of the book and film such as When “ Katniss and gale sneak out into the woods to hunt, and gail brings a loaf of bread”. As well as when Primerose gets called at the reaping, and Katniss took her place.…
Katniss faced much adversity in her life from her father dying in a mine accident, her having to find food so her and her sister did not starve, and her taking the place of her sister when she is picked to take place in the hunger games. This relates to a lot of people because we face challenges in everyday life, but like Katniss we must be able to overcome these challenges and make the best of it. Katniss also showed a lot of bravery by taking the places of her sister in The Hunger Games this act of bravery is something that many people would not do. If you want to be brave in your life you must be able to sacrifice yourself for another person this is another reason why I believe this book related to so many people.…
Katniss knows how to survive and survival is the key factor to winning the hunger games. From the beginning you know that Katniss can hunt and this helps win the hunger games but survival is not just hunting its being smarter than your prey and knowing how to outwit your opponents. When Katniss was dropped into the Hunger Games arena she was one of the best hunters which gave her an advantage because some of the other contestants could not hunt at all. Before the Katniss was chosen to be in the Hunger games she also had to survive by collecting her own herbs and meat to feed her family and in rough times she would be starving and spent some time…
