The Importance Of Activism
Everyone has that special someone in their life that stood out like a sore thumb. It can either be your mom, dad, best friend, or even a partner. For me, it would be my best friend Andreu. Andreu is very special to me because he and I support activism together, we are both vegan, and he is by my side 100% of the time.

First off, without activism, we wouldn’t have met.
We met in a vegan community which is a form of activism. We met after a heated conversation within a group. He contacted me because within the conversation, he found out that he and I had similar aspects. When we got to know each other we found out we both condone activism such as Veganism, Feminism, LGBTQ, Body Shaming, and Abilism. One day, we will make our community to support

Everyday we send pictures to each other of what we eat and conversate about them. At times, we even make our favorite food. Its pretty funny to think about it because when either of us make it, it’s like a best friend’s version. Culture is another thing when it comes to veganism. He is from Spain so he shows me a vegan version of his traditional foods found in Spain such as potaje, burritos, and croquettes. I on the other hand show him traditional recipes I learned such as fried rice, jalapeno poppers, and curry. It’s amazing how we veganize our traditional foods.

The last reason why Andreu and I are so close is because he is the most loyal person I have ever met. There have been times where I’ve been really sad and he would take the time out to stay up at night just to talk to me. Others I met just gave me a short statement and went to sleep (which I don’t have a problem with). If that isn’t a friend, I don’t know what it is. You do not find many people like that very often and if you do, you better treasure them.

To conclude this, I am very glad to meet a person like him. It finally made me realise new people do appear in your life. When you travel a lot, it is very hard to have a long lasting friend because it is hard to keep in touch with

During Garuda di Dadaku we see a journey which tests the strong friendship of Bayu and Heri, two boys you wouldn’t expect to be friends. When a Canadian is asked to name their local Member of Parliament, we all can’t help but laugh at the people who literally don’t know anything about our political system. Unfortunately, the ignorance of politics has been divided into many groups of Canadians, which demonstrates why some people are not informed or interested in discussing political matters. Elisabeth Gidengil, writer of Citizens, explicitly repeats in her novel that Age, Material circumstances, education and gender gaps are factors of being politically engaged (Gidengil 173). Without a doubt, not everyone has those same components to become an active citizen and it’s unfortunate that some choose not to get politically involved. Consequently, the absence of political knowledge has a big effect on Canada because with more uninformed citizens, leads to more societal problems. In this paper, I argue the success of Canada’s democracy is heavily dependent on politically engaged citizens and by having more Canadians convey their concerns, the authorities can realize what political issues to extricate. The result of increasing civic engagement is both a sophisticated…

In the early 20th century, the Progressive Movement of Era had a global social activism and political support and change across the United States. The goals they wanted to target were to seek to return control of the government to the people, political machines, restore economic opportunities, and to correct injustice. Muckrakers, such as Thomas Nast, Jacob Riis, U. Sinclair, F. Kelly, helped cities for better places to live, which was prohibition. Since, 1848 the National American Woman Suffrage Association seeked a suffrage amendment for women. Groups like The Women’s Christian Temperance Union made laws for prohibitions, such as ending child labor and making streets safe from crime. In England, Alice Paul and Lucy burns both sought money and supported factories. They showed women how laws can bring safety. Ruza then joined in on the safety as well.…

    Why Society Needs Dissent

In the United States, prejudice and unfairness has always been a problem for the minority groups. People of color have been dehumanized and treated like animals compared to the white man. This pattern of discrimination continued and affected people of color until 1961 when President John F. Kennedy introduced affirmative action. Sunstein’s goal is as he says himself in his book, “to connect an understanding of conformity and dissent to the current debate over the constitutional validity of those policies” (Sustein 194). After reading this chapter, my response is that the laws are there because they need to be there, and there should be a form of help for people of color to make up for the many years of cruel treatment and unfairness their ancestors have faced.…

My high school required every senior to write a ten to a fifteen-page research paper on an issue or crisis that you were interested in and in order to graduate you would have to get a passing grade. For the research paper, you had to pick a topic that you were passionate about and one that you are willing to work on your whole senior year. The research paper would include everything you learned about while researching, your activism, what you did to solve the issue and lastly, why you chose the topic and how it changed you as a person. My writing would determine whether I graduated. I had worked hard for four years and I did not want a fifteen-page paper to set me back. This was not just a research paper, it was also my senior activism project…
