There are many different kinds of love throughout the play that William Shakespeare wrote called Romeo and Juliet. Three different kinds of love in the play are romantic love between Romeo & Juliet, Friendly love between Mercutio and Romeo, and parental love between Nurse & Juliet. The love in this play isn't always easy for the characters and doesn't always go their way. “ The course of true love never did run smooth.” The love in this play is also linked to death. Both Romeo and Juliet’s parents don't really act like their parents- nurse acts more like a parent to Juliet and Friar Laurence acts more like a parent for Romeo.

Even though both Romeo and Juliet live with their parents they look at other people as parents. For Juliet her nurse is like a parent for her, she has been there since Juliet was a little girl and has taken care of her throughout her whole life. The two have a close relationship in the play. The nurse acts as a guide for Juliet. In the same way, Friar Laurence acts as a parent and a guide for Romeo. Romeo and friar are very close, friar knows a lot about romeo. Romeo always goes to friar if he is in trouble or needs advice. These two people in Romeo and Juliet's life is very important to them.
Another example of love in the play is friendly love. There is lots of hate in the play, but lots of friendly love too. Romeo and Mercutio are best friends throughout the play. The two are always together and look out for each other like brothers. In fact, Tybalt kills Mercutio and Romeo kills Tybalt for Mercutio even though he know he will have to leave Juliet behind. Mercutio was the one who made Romeo go to the capulet’s party and that is where Romeo and Juliet met.
