Poverty is one of a push factor for immigration. My parents made little amount of money in China. Many chinese in the area lived in poverty. Most of the people lacked education.
A pull factor for immigration where things such as job opportunity. In America my parents got a business opportunity to work in a Chinese restaurant in that was owned by one of my aunts who immigrated to America and started her own business before my parents immigrated to America. While working there
my parents were able to make more money to support their parents. They also made enough money to start their own business.
Another push factor was famine. During the 1960’s there was a famine that was around in China. Natural disasters such as droughts, economic mismanagement and the prohibition of land ownership caused the famine. The famine caused crops to fail and caused my ancestors to fall into poverty. The famine also had affected my parents.
In conclusion, because of immigration my ancestors were able to start a new life in America for new opportunities. These push and pull factors were what caused my parents to move to America.
