The significance of the Battle of Lexington and Concord was that it was the start of the Revolutionary War. The Battle of Lexington and Concord started when British soldiers went to seize an arms cache but before they could seize the arms cache Paul Revier sounded an alarm to try and stop them. That night the British were stopped by Paul Revier because he was expecting the British and the colonists got help from the Red Coats to stop the British troops. The first battle was won because Paul Revier stopped the British from seizing the weapons…
By the end of 1776, the Continental Army was in a state of despair. After the traumatic defeat in Brooklyn, General George Washington led his rapidly depleting army through northeastern New Jersey, crossed the Delaware, and settled in on the banks of the river around December 7, 1776. Washington, knowing the condition of his army, decided to launch one last-gasp effort to defeat the British and boost patriot moral. He did not receive the reinforcements he pleaded for from General Charles Lee or General Horatio Gates in the weeks before the attack, but by late December, he could no longer wait. On December 25, 1776, Washington launched the first attack on the Hessian garrison in Trenton, New Jersey and used three major principles of war to his advantage: simplicity, surprise, and mass.…
This battle was a lesser nevertheless crucial battle within the Revolutionary War. The Battle of Trenton was fought throughout the American Revolutionary war and it passed off close to Trenton, New Jersey. Despite the patriot’s strong moral hopes, they were not seen as victors. They took battle loss after loss and yet kept pushing. Right as their will was dying, their fate would turn for the better. Fort Ticonderoga was the first Continental army victory in the revolutionary war (The Capture of Fort Ticonderoga). Although this specific spot actually has more history with multiple other wars, it proved to be the place where the American Revolution would come into the hands of the patriots. Although it was very gelid, the Continental Army kept on fighting, and because of this, defeated the Hessians quickly. Only two American soldiers died, and this was because of being frozen to death. This fact shows how dominant the American soldiers were by surprising the Hessians. In effect to winning the battle so quickly, The Battle of Trenton was a turning point in The American Revolution. The total dominance of the Americans gave lots of motivation necessary for the Continental Army to win the war. If the colonists wouldn’t have had this motivation, the British could have easily won the war because the Continental army would not have any motivation, making them give up and not fight. This did not happen though because of excellent strategy and planning by Commander-and-Chief George Washington. The Battle of Trenton was major because of George Washington too. The American victory at The Battle of Trenton helped renew the soldiers’ faith in their leader, George Washington. As a result of being a motivational battle and George Washington proving he can lead the Continental Army, The Battle of Trenton was a turning point in the American…

The siege of Vicksburg will be known as one of the most important battles in the Civil War. At least, that’s what the opposing president’s think. The city of Vicksburg, Louisiana, sits on the banks of the Mississippi. Vicksburg was a vital port city for the Confederacy, as it was one of the two remaining cities on the mississippi that the South had control over. Because of this, the actual fort was heavily armed. Lunentint General John C. Pemberton had been put in charge of the fort’s protection from threats. No battle was fought at Valley Forge, yet it was the turning point in the Revolutionary War because it gave the army a backbone, made the soldiers stronger for upcoming battles, and helped them win alliance with the French. It was here that the Continental Army was hopelessly drenched. After the battles they had fought, Valley Forge gave them another reason to give up. They arrived bloody, beaten, and war-torn. What would you expect from an army who went through these difficulties and yet, life throws them the winter of Valley Forge. To the point of giving up, the army stood their ground and kept on fighting for their independence. Without the winter at Valley Forge, Britain would still have power over us. Because of the results of Valley…
Once again it was not him who received the sword of the surrendering General Burgoyne, but his hostile rival General Gates. After surrounding the retreating British army, an honorable surrender was arranged. The victory at Saratoga turned the tide in the favor of the Americans for the first time. The Northern Continental Army had won the greatest victory of the American Revolution as of yet. They had put 5,000 enemy troops out of the war and captured enormous stores of guns of all sizes, ammunition, supplies and equipment (Alderman 98). There was no longer a threat from Canada. The victory also injected new heart and confidence into those colonists for the American cause. Last but not least, it was a strong factor in swinging France over to join up with the Americans as their allies. Gates of course received all credit despite Arnold's tremendous efforts and sacrifices. It was Arnold who led Gates' men, who favored Arnold, on a second charge against the Brunswickers and Hessians and forced them to retreat. It was Arnold who rode and was wounded seriously in the leg that had been injured before at Quebec whilst assaulting and surrounding the retreating British army so that the British army could not escape. But in the end, General Gates, Arnold's superior officer who was in command was given the credit for the win at…
