Chocolate comes from the cocoa bean, this bean mostly is known to inhabit the tropical climates of Western Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The cocoa bean is known as cocoa, in this article we are going to refer to it as cocoa to make it easier for us and for you to make it easier too. In most of Western Africa, there are cocoa plantations. Ghana and Ivory control the market of cocoa production in Western Africa, they import 70% of all cocoa beans in the world. Through Western Africa, cocoa is the main plant grown and it’s the most imported through Western Africa. An example of these is Ivory because 60 percent of its importations comes from cocoa. In the last decades, the chocolate industry has grown which causes for cheap cocoa for the large chocolate producers. The cause of this demand has left cocoa farmers to only earn two dollars in a single day, this means that they are in the line of poverty and make it harder for them to compete with other farmers. Because of this farmers use child labor to keep prices low to compete versus other farmers.The children in Western Africa live in extreme poverty, because of this the children need to work to support their families. Some of this kids end up in the hands of cocoa farmers which tell them that the job pays well. We made them work in huge factories fixing machines, going inside them to fix them. We forced them to work inside mines to extract essential minerals so that our machines could run with energy. In that era we treated our children like tools not human beings, they didn’t experiential love or comfort. Everyone thinks that all of this has ended but the truth is that this pain hasn’t ended in the 21th century. Chocolate is one of humanities favorite desserts, but this dessert we eat is made by the hands of poor children that were taken or sold into slavery. They work for 365 day a year with no brakes so that we can have chocolate, this pain will not stop if we don’t stand up and talk for them. The government in those countries doesn’t do anything because they support the slavery. God told us to help those ones in need, those ones that can’t speak up, for those that are trapped in the slavery. We as the dominant species in this world we need learn from our mistakes of the past so that we learn and not repeat the same mistakes, and child labour is one of this mistakes that we need learn and not do it
