Earth; scientifically most gifted potential for life, deemed one in many trillion. It is 4.5 billion years old. And humanity, has been around only for 200 000 years. Conceptualizing this, if we shrink the age of earth to 24 hours, we have only been around for four seconds. In four seconds we have shaped this beauty into a polluted ruin. “Homo sapiens” in Latin meaning “wise man”. Wise. Intelligent, yes. Wise, I don’t think so. We have split the atom into two, created autonomous robots, advanced technology beyond our imagination. However, simultaneously that split of the atom also caused nuclear warfare, millions of lives taken, ultimately leaving the carbon footprint still haunting our existence. …show more content…
That clearly, isn’t wisdom.
Greenhouse gases are long-lived, so the planet will continue to warm and changes will continue to happen far into the future, but the degree to which global warming changes life on Earth depends on our decisions now. Global warming causes damage to nature, human health, and leaves a disastrous world for the future generations, pestering human survival. I will place you into perspective, as in take you through the three main aspects; the nature, our current status as people and the future of humanity.
The nature is heavily affected by global warming causing increased sea levels, air pollution, and breakdown of the ozone layer.
Rising sea levels is disastrous situation for aquatic life, affecting the food chain and ecosystems. Thermal expansion causes water to expand at warmer temperatures, thus increases sea level. Primarily, coral reefs are greatly affected by rising sea levels, they indulge the basis of healthy ecosystem. By 2050, live corals could become rare as a result of warmer water and increased ocean acidity caused by more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. And what does this mean? Well, I feel when coral reefs, the primary producers of food, that are at the bottom of the food chain, it will have a drastic effect on natural balance. All this destruction, and suppression of natural habitats leads to human depression. Think about it, think about not having fish, or any type of seafood because they are toxic or extinct. We are nature. When we destroy nature, we destroy humanity. When we take the nature for granted, we are questioning our belongingness to this …show more content…
society.
Global warming creates many health complications, increasing medical costs, while escalating human suffering. Scientific studies show that a higher level of carbon dioxide spurs an increase in the growth of weeds such as ragweed, whose pollen triggers allergies and exacerbates asthma. The number of pollen allergy and asthma sufferers has increased worldwide over the last several decades. Some researchers have suggested that this could be an early health effect of human-caused climate change. Air pollution makes allergies worse: Diesel exhaust particles can interact with pollen and deliver it deeper into the lung. Rising temperatures increase ground-level ozone smog production, which presents a serious threat to asthmatics. Airborne diseases increase radically causing serious complications such as asthma, malaria, heat strokes as a result of deadly heat waves. Drastic increase in diseases correspondingly escalates medical bills and other research expenses.
Future generations are our relay runners that carry humanity forward. By hurting the nature, we are preparing to burn out the fuse of humanity much earlier than expected. A recent study says we can expect the oceans to rise between 2.5 and 6.5 feet (0.8 and 2 meters) by 2100, enough to swamp many of the cities along the U.S. East Coast. That means our future generations die trying to survive in the submerging land. It is estimated that one–fourth of all the plants and animals on Earth could become extinct within 100 years. That disrupts our ecosystem, imbalances the food chain, and leads to an exponential downfall of life. Imagine being cast in a world with air so impure, you have to wear gas masks to survive. Imagine a world where you have to hide from that acid rain that could potentially burn your skin. Well, that is where our world seems to be heading in a hundred years. You might think that you are not affected, you will probably die in a hundred years. But think about your children, and all the infants that will be born with birth defects, who fight to survive, but eventually die because of us. We need to end this brutality, start taking initiative to better support this cause.
I want to end this by saying it is up to us to make a change, we are the future.
When enough teens come together, we make waves of passion and perseverance. Time is life, time is of the essence. If in four seconds humanity could make such a drastic revolution to this planet, then I want to make this planet go another step into the future without extinction. We are the future leaders. We are future of continued revolution. We make the change to alter the direction we are heading, to a more environmentally friendly path. While intelligence blinds you, wisdom teaches you that for every action, there is an equal reaction. So don’t get blinded by the struggle for this (picture of money), because remember deep down that the future is resting on our
shoulders.
