The Influence Of The Hubble Space Telescope
“Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure science”- Edwin Hubble. Edwin Hubble was an extraordinary scientist, who helped create a space telescope that contributed to multiple discoveries and grew our understanding of the universe. The Hubble Space Telescope was and is an absolutely critical aspect to astronomy because it helped make many amazing discoveries in science. This space telescope explored places and objects, we never knew existed and it explained the answers to questions we never thought we’d have the answers too. The hubble space telescope is extremely important because it advanced our knowledge of space and the universe.
First, let’s go over some background information, such

First, he discovered the existence of far of galaxies and was able to show the galaxies in all stages of evolution (amazingspace.org). These galaxies had never been discovered or seen before this. The Hubble space telescope also helped answer how rapidly the universe is expanding and for how long. Thanks to the Hubble telescope we were able to determine that the universe is 13-14 billion years old (hubblesite.org). This question had caused great controversy before. Additionally, the space telescope helped discover the existence of dark energy, which is a mysterious force that causes expansions of the universe to accelerate. In addition to that, they were able to discovered gamma-ray bursts which are powerful explosions of energy. Another discovery that was made is the finding of protoplanetary disks and clumps of gas and dust around a young star that served as a birthing ground for new planets. The Hubble Space Telescope also discovered the identity of quasars. (hubblesite.org) Finally, the Hubble Space Telescope identified the most distant galaxy, which is about 13.2 billion light years away (sciencedaily.com). All in all the Hubble Space Telescope made many amazing discoveries and we were able to learn an abundance of things because of

Galileo theory of the Earth revolving around the sun had him almost executed by the Roman Catholic Church. Galileo’s use of the telescope marked him as a modern science marvel. His discoveries spanned from the moons of Jupiter to the moon. In relation to cosmology, Galileo’s contributions to the understanding of the universe and how it begun helped shape the modernization of cosmology. It was not until later that Galileo’s contributions were proven to be liable and relative. Present-day cosmology continues to make theories and observations in attempt to prove out or further discover the realms of the universe.…

The introduction of Galileo's refracting telescope was a significant event in history because of the conclusions Galileo proved using his instrument. He disproved the Roman Catholic Church's belief that the Earth was at the centre of the universe, instead of the Sun. He observed the moon-like areas on Venus that could only be true if the Sun was at the centre of the universe. He further discovered that the Moon did not have a smooth surface, but was covered with mountains and craters. Galileo also discovered the four largest moons of Jupiter, reinforcing that the Sun was at the centre of the universe. As all these primary discoveries were possible through a telescope, it laid the foundation for more telescopic developments and discoveries.…

Astronomy is the study of moons, planets, stars, galaxies, nebulae, their many features and properties, and situations that happens outside of Earth. The study was dated back to the times of the Egyptians, however their beliefs in God prevented them from further looking into the universe, because to them God controlled the universe so why would they try to understand it. When the Greeks came along, and they were able to find out that the Earth was spherical, one notable scientist that helped in this discovery was called Eratosthenes, he was also the person that invented the system of latitude and longitude we know today, Eratosthenes was the first to calculate the Earth’s circumference by using the length stadiums as his measurement system. Considering the lack of advance technology back in his days, his calculation was very accurate, his circumference was only missing 300 kilometers of today’s accepted value (40,075 kilometers). Copernicus was also not the first person to propose the idea that the Earth revolves around the sun, however his proposal was during the time of the Scientific Revolution, a time when people are more open-minded to new ideas and have access to tools…

The leaders of each state gathered in 1787 to write the U.S., Constitution. The constitution does not only provides how the nation is governed but also creates a system that separates powers between the legislature, executive, and judiciary (Garba and Nduka-Eze, 93). The framers purposely divided governing powers between the three arms so that neither of the branches would yield power over the others. Through the concept of separation of power, the U.S. Constitution ensures none of the branches is more powerful than the others (Harper, 04). The intention was to ensure the three arms coexist in harmony and hold check and balances over each other (Harper, 05).…

Space exploration has always been fascinating, and it gives us hope of finding something new. According to the video “Space Race: 20th Century Timeline and Firsts,” “though the idea of space travel was discussed for hundreds of years, the field of rocketry got its first big boost in the early 20th century.” A century ago, space exploration was just a concept or a dream for mankind, but this idea had been accomplished by the developed of powerful rocket which overcome the force of gravity. In the beginning, on March 16, 1926 an American physicist, Robert A. Goddard, launched the first liquid fuel rocket in history. After World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union created their own missile programs. On October 4th 1957, the Soviets launched the first satellite into space. Later on, a national goal of “Landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth within a decade” was set by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 (Space Race). On July 20, 1969, Astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first man walking onto the moon. The space exploration improved for the century, and now the advances of technology have pushed space travel to go further and discover other planets in solar system. However, in order to explore universe in details, many scientists have endeavored very hard to invent more new high technologies. Therefore, with its high technologies, space exploration has a lot of impacts on us today. For example, with the satellite system put up in the space, the weather forecast today has a high accuracy level, and this accuracy has helped in preventing many calamities. Besides the weather forecast, the satellite system also helps people to transmit the news or media all over the world almost instantly. Moreover, the researching space becomes a high paying jobs for many…

Not only did The Apollo Program prove NASA’s capabilities, but other space projects have also had significant accomplishments. Throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s, various spacecrafts were sent into space to explore the Earth, Sun, Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Jupiter. NASA’s Discovery program, one of their low cost missions that focuses on the solar system, sent the Hubble Space Telescope in April 1990 to orbit Earth and take photographs of its atmosphere. The photos taken by Hubble “revolutionized ideas about the universe, contributing to the discovery of dark energy, a force that caused the universe to expand at an ever-increasing rate, and the discovery and characterization of planets outside the solar system” (Flynn). For centuries, humans have had limited knowledge about space and the planets that occupy it, however, The Hubble Space Telescope expanded the world’s knowledge on astronomy.…

Many people believe that Isaac Newton left the biggest impact on the history of science. He is most known for developing the laws of gravity and his work in formulating Calculus with Gottfried Leibniz . Calculus is taught in schools all around the world today so are his laws of gravity, These notions were published along with many others in Isaac's “Principia Mathematica” publishing this book went on to prove Kepler's heliocentric view of the solar system. Many systems of mathematics in the book are still used today for calculating a vast selection of situations on earth and in space. Isaac Newton built the first reflecting telescope, His telescope involved using mirrors and lens unlike previous telescopes only using a lens. Isaacs telescope…

In the grand scheme of our lives today, historical evidence is essential for the world to move forward.. The Voyager Space Program was a program that discovered the outer planets for the first time, and this program encountered many of the astronomical wonders of the outer planets today. But originally, the project scientist Ed Stone (former director of Caltech) did not know how to use the special alignment planets that occurs every 167 years. If he had no value for originality he would put in billions of more dollars for just rocket fuel, but as a project scientist and a former director of caltech he cooked up an idea. This idea was the most revolutionizing and groundbreaking…
