The Inupiaq Culture

Language is the heart and the foundation of each culture, which means that if someone does not know it, they will not be able to thoroughly acknowledge their culture. To exemplify this, long ago the Inupiaq were Americanized and forced to have an education where they could not speak their native dialect. To this day, their generation of language is gradually diminishing with each passing second, minute, and hour. Accordingly, the Inupiaq people want to be able to speak their rightful tongue, but they could not connect with others. Despite the fact that this affects new generations, an idea formed that without language, it indicates that their interactions among people, nature, animals, and the universe is conflicted over time. The association
among people of the Inupiaq language is abundantly intense and influential. When the Inupiaq were forced to go to boarding school, they were only to speak English. If that rule was not followed, punishment was part of consequence. During that time period, many of the Inupiaq Native-Americans lost their language that way. When they were able to go home, they could not help with sewing, hunting, cooking, or helping their village because they unable to interact with their fellow people. It was strenuous, some people had relinquish their time in school and when people saw that, they had no problem with continuation of their culture. Others in school, however, fell behind.
