The Jungle Book Captain Americ Winter's War
The Jungle Book made it a three-peat, and managed to fend off a slew of new contenders – before it hands off the reigns to its fellow Disney counterpart, Captain America: Civil War, next week.

Plenty of predictions thought Disney’s The Jungle Book would be a hit – but with an additional $42.4 million this weekend, it sends the heavy praised film into a new stratosphere. On the domestic front, The Jungle Book has put together an impressive $252 million assault, thus bringing its worldwide total to a towering $589 million ($337 million, foreign).

The sequel, starring Chris Hemsworthy, took a 52% dip in attendance from one week ago, essentially cementing the film as one of the year’s box office disappointments. Winter’s War was produced on a massive $115 million budget, but has only managed to gross a disappointing $33.9 million at home. However, foreign markets have helped significantly – contributing $97 million ($130.9 million, worldwide).

Third place went to a cat comedy. No, that’s not a punch line of any sort. Of course, that’s a reference to Keanu, starring the comedy duo of Keegan-Michael Key & Jordan Peele. Keanu managed to capture $9.3 million, and while that’s not exactly brag-worthy, the film was only produced on a conservative $15 million.

Mother’s Day came one week early this year – in the form of the new Jennifer Aniston comedy, which could only muster a disappointing $8.3 million. This is the third film in this holiday-themed series – from director Garry Marshall. However, Mother’s Day put up the lowest opening of the three films, coming in behind Valentine’s Day ($56.2 million) and New Year’s Eve ($13 million).

Rounding out the top-5 was Barbershop: The Next Cut – adding $6.1 million. The third film in the series has now grossed a solid $44.7 million,
