The Lorax was the protector of the forest, he cared for the Truffula trees, Bar-ba-Loots, Humming Fish and Swomee Swans. The Once-ler started cutting all the trees to make thneeds. The thneeds could be used for many things such as a glove, hat and curtains. The Once-ler discovered that a lot of people liked them so, he made a big factory that made thneeds. He called all his family to come work with him. As more people wanted them more trees were cut down. The Lorax warned the Once-ler that if he kept cutting down the Truffula trees that he would destroy the ecosystem and that no animals would be able to live there, from all the smoke, food shortage, disease and the Gluppity Glup. The Once-ler was over harvesting all the trees and did not replant for future generations to come. “Humanity is cutting down its forest, apparently oblivious to the fact that we may not be able to live without them”-Asimov. Most people don't care what happens to all the truffula trees and animals, especially rich people they knock down trees just so they can make more money. The name for removing trees without replanting them is called deforestation. Without the trees the Bar-ba-Loots faced a big famine, which is when there's no more food and the animal will starve. The Lorax decided to make them leave to see if they could find a better place to live. The truffula trees were the producers who made their own food and the Once-ler and the Bar-ba-Loots were the consumers who used the trees. During the last part of the movie the Once-ler gave the boy the last truffula tree seeds so he could start a reforestation process. This process is important where there are no
