The Lord of the Rings : The Fellowship of the Ring

This is the story of Frodo Baggins, as he journeys to the fiery Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring of power in order to stop the dark lord, Sauron, from regaining his full power once more. In order to do this Frodo teams up with 3 of his hobbit friends, Sam, Pippin, and Merry, two humans Aragorn, and Boromir, a dwarf, Gimli, an elf, Legolas, and a wizard, Gandalf the Grey. They are known as the Fellowship of the Ring. Their objective is simple, yet dangerous; destroy the ring. Along the way, some are tempted by the power of the ring, leading to conflicts. In the end, Frodo and Sam run off by themselves to journey to Mount Doom to destroy the ring and end the war between good and evil. Meanwhile, on the other side of the story, Merry and Pippin are kidnapped by Orcs. After Boromir dies, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli begin their search for Pippin and Merry. For more, read The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

Character Description
The characters that I will be describing are: * Sam
One does not easily find a more loyal person than Samwise Gamgee. He is a hobbit, Frodo’s gardener, and most importantly, he’s Frodo’s friend.
After accidentally hearing about the quest Frodo is about to be sent on, Gandalf threatens Sam into traveling alongside Frodo. Sam’s role in this story is Frodo’s best friend and loyal companion through every single part of the journey. It’s hard to tell what motivates him so much, but it is very clear that he is very dependable. No matter how bad the times get, or how dark the road ahead seemed, Sam stayed with Frodo all the way till the end, risking his life every second. Sam is the wise type of friend whom you always want to have around as council. Sam is also a great relief from all the darkness that is found in the story. While everything seems to keep on getting darker, Sam is always there to “lighten the mood”. Sam is a nice, shy,

In fairy tales, the battle between good and evil is evident. Fairy tales are known to have morals. Narnia is an example of a classic and popular fantasy series with morals and symbolism. Like Narnia, The Hobbit has symbolism. The Hobbit 's symbolism is more subtle, but when looking it 's not difficult to find. There are morals in the story that follow christian values and show respect for others. The main character Bilbo, shows that through a journey of self discovery, growth, and wisdom, even if people do not think they are capable of amazing things, they are more powerful and impactful on their environment then they ever thought possible.…

Sam’s loyalty to Frodo goes far deeper then Neville’s loyalty to Dumbledore’s Army. Sam’s whole role in the story is fueled by his loyalty to Frodo. He goes on the quest to destroy the Ring merely out of friendship and loyalty. He stands by Frodo’s side through all the perils they face, he carries Frodo up mount doom, and even gives him the last of his water . Even when tempted by the power of the Ring, he doesn’t become overwhelmed by it like the others. Romuald Ian Lawowski explains that Sam is grounded by his loyalty to Frodo: “[Sam] is the character that is least tempted by the One Ring, perhaps because he is so grounded: the only reality for Sam is the Shire; power and conquest are simply not important to Sam” (Lawowski 2). His true motivation…

Such as in the Shire after Frodo learns the importance of the ring and offers it to Gandalf because he thinks it would be safer with him. Gandalf immediately cries, “’No! ...With that power I should have power too great and terrible. And over me the Ring would gain a power still greater and more deadly (60).” With this temptation, Gandalf’s wisdom, and strength to resist, is shown and eventually comes to help him when he is trapped by Sauroman in Isengard. While there he is given a choice, “This then is the choice before you, before us. We may join with that power. It would be wise, Gandalf. There is hope that way (253).” Because of the previous temptations, Gandalf is able to create his own choice, choosing to defy Sauromon rather than join with him. The complete defiance of temptation in Gandalf throughout the story matures him into the driving force of good in the story. The final, and perhaps the most influential denial of the Ring is made by Galadriel when Frodo says, “I will give you the One Ring, if you ask for it. It is too great a matter for me (356).” She responds by saying, “You will give me the Ring freely! In place of a Dark Lord you will set up a Queen… I pass the test… I will diminish, and go into the West, and remain Galadriel (356-357).” Through this encounter the will power and strength Galadriel has is shown as she denies incredible…

"One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them. One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."(8) Quite an interesting line for the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The trilogy of The Lord of the Rings is based in a struggle between good and evil, courage and friendship, not leaving the humanity behind. A world made by Tolkien, real enough to live not only in his mind, but also in ours. Middle Earth, a place ruled by elves, dwarves, and humans. A place where some creatures are not even noticed, which is best because they can keep their peace and innocence. A land of solitude and nostalgia, since the Rings of Power have been made, and Middle Earth is the key setting.…

In The Hobbit J.R.R Tolkien is criticized at times for his racist and race-based elements that he uses in this historic novel. Tolkien uses the characters in The Hobbit and symbolism of the good versus evil to depict that racism in society is destructive. Tolkien was known for his legendarium, which is Tolkien’s imagined world of Arda. Tolkien, throughout the story, references topics related to racism, such as superiority and bloodlines. While Tolkien thought that racism would be destructive for the human race, he still incorporated it into this novel. Its hard to depict if Tolkien is writing about racism but there is not a doubt that in The Hobbit there is racial division and it sets up great talking points. In The Hobbit the author J.R Tolkien uses racism through symbolism and the manipulation of characters and their action to cause controversy in the story and to show that racism is destructive for everyone.…

The case talks about the risks and highly competitive environment faced by the director and his agent in the creation of the block buster movie “lord of the rings”. Lord of the rings has 3 parts they are fellowship of the ring, the two towers, and the return of the king. The case talks about the difficulties and problems faced by peter Jackson who is the director and his agent ken kamins. It was one of the biggest gamble in the movie history because everything with the movie was very uncertain, like the director was a unknown one and to top it the movie was shot 7000miles were the studio executives had little control over what was happening in the set. However at the end lord of rings movie made about US$500million dollars and also winning four Oscars at the end of that year. Lord of the rings became one of the biggest blockbuster and also a very big success story. Industry: Entertainment Industry Sub-industry: Film Industry New entrant: New line To make the movie the rights had to be secured from JRR Tolkien’s novel. Saul zaents who was the producer had brought the rights from Professor Tolkien for a rumored amount of US$15000 before 30years. Jackson’s screen play was nominated for Oscar in 1995 which helped him to have a deal with Harvey who is the head of Miramax. After which Jackson and his agent asked help of Harvey so as to obtain the rights from Saul. Since Harvey and Saul knew each other well, it opened the door for Harvey to buy the rights from Saul at US$3 million. We feel Harvey who is the head of Miramax has a very good bargaining power in this case. Jacksons plan was to make three different movies which would be the trilogy. Without much time Miramax felt the heat of what they were going to do and they felt the proposition was going to be very expensive. Harvey who is the head had gone to Disney so as to ask them to be a partner in the project, which they refused. And when Disney…
