The Lottery By Shirley Jackson Artifact Analysis
In English 112 we have a essay on the story “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson. The essay had to be on either telling about the symbolism in the story, analysing a character, or telling about the themes found throughout the story. I chose to tell about the symbolism. In this assignment we had to use at least 4 sources including the story itself and one reference book from the library along with it being three to five pages long.
The artifact is an example of the competency because I had to read the story then analyze the story to find good examples symbolism then find quotes and evidence in the reference book to back up my argument.
I am very satisfied with the results of paper. I think I had strong examples of symbolism from the story back
up with evidence. I think if I had to do anything differently I would add one more example of symbolism because my paper was a little short. I sure I will continue improving on this competency.
