In the seventh century a war was in process. On June 22, 1679, the king’s forces got rid of the last of the Presbyterian Covenanters in a bloody battle known as the Bothwell Brig. Many people refused to make an allegiance with the King which caused thousands of Presbyterian Covenanter rebels to be rounded up and imprisoned in a section of the Greyfriars Kirkyard known as the Covenanters’ prison. The first theory is that there is a ghost and it was awakened by the old man who broke into tomb awoke the ghost of Mackenzie. After Mackenzie died the site was just a graveyard of a past war. Nothing unusual was happened until he broke into this site. While breaking the other tombs and caskets nothing happened. Only when he tried to break Mackenzies casket, something bad happened. Every since that day anyone who wanted to get inside, or was even interested in the place, got hurt. Some people say that this is a hoax, but how could it be one if people are getting physically hurt when there was no one there who could have caused that? This theory explains who many believe that not only mackenzie is causing the haunting but both Mackenzie and his victims. This would make sense since multiple people get hurt at the same moment in time which would not be possible in most people's knowledge of it was just one spirit. People who have fainted or felt tugging at the arm may be experiencing the victims trying to stop them from wandering into their killer’s arms. Many also say some victim also harm the pedestrians due to the fact that they are upset about their lives being taken therefore they still bother the living. Overall this theory has a combination of ideas all which end up concluding that both Mackenzie and his victims are harming many unsuspecting pedestrians.
Personal Opinion
Due to this and all of the theories and stories above I do believe that something is haunting the Mckenzie residence. I do not know which I would agree with more. All three theories written here have good points and I understand why some think that their theory is superior compared to the others. I do prefer one theory over the others once I consider the circumstances. The third theory has more room for the train of thought to flow, which is why it is the one I take liking to. This allows me and the others who believe this to think about more possibilities of what this is and why it is happening.
