One issue that fueled its failure was that the United States congress voted that our nation would not take part in it, which is ironic because of who it was created by. We did not want to get involved with another extreme conflict so soon after World War I, or at all for that matter. Another issue was that, the League of Nations had no army to support it and its condemnations. An example of this is when Italy invaded Ethiopia in 1935. Haile Selassie, the emperor of Ethiopia, was quoted saying that “God and history will remember your judgement. … It is us today. It will be you tomorrow.” He is saying that the imperialistic views of the Axis powers would not stop following the conquering of Ethiopia. In time, they would continue into Eurasia.
