Abstract
The industry revolution drastically changed society from a traditional system to be an industrialized and capitalist system. During that time, the growth is driven by five insightful men: Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, and Henry Ford who will change the world forever. This paper analyzes five great U.S. leaders and why they are the key leaders of their time through leadership characteristics and how they influence capitalism, the economy, and politics in the U.S. nation to better understand the leaders in a deeper way and help you to emulate their success in leadership and in life.

Cornelius Vanderbilt
After Vanderbilt was an entrepreneur in the largest steamship industry, he generated an idea of improving transportation system from steamship business to railroad industry. With his brave and decisive, he decided to sell his steamship business and invest in a new small business railroad industry. Having good planning skills to develop his company led him to overcome other competitors and became the leader of the largest railroad company in the world at that time.
John D. Rockefeller
Even if Rockefeller tended to declare bankruptcy in his oil business in 1827, he was strong minded, never felt hopeless and had the courage to stand up to challenge. Surprisingly, instead of being afraid of failure, he was a forward thinker and had a strong vision to develop and recover his business again until he became the first creator of the refinery industry in the U.S. It was not enough for him to own just one business. He used long term planning to build pipelines to sustain his business in the future. As a result, he was the most powerful leader of the Standard Oil Company without using railroad
