Abstract
Many institutions of higher education are push and constantly challenged by a feeling of shared governance that models a top down structure; this obviously contributes in creating an atmosphere where the leaders will be and are often questioned, sometime they are even challenged by the lower tiers of management (Tagawa, 2012). In this particular case, it’s an issue that is a common occurrence in higher institution that test many administrators and their leadership ability. Dr. Smith, as the provost of the university, was not only challenged by those around him, he even seemed to fear their reprisals, in particular the deans of his college. When there is no strength in a leadership figure there will be a lack of discipline within every rank. With the lack of discipline there will be a significant drop in morals and ethics. This case study will examined how effective leadership of an individual can impact major situations by their ability in communication and understanding.
Introduction There are various definition and concepts of leadership that can includes several different set of skills and components. In regards to different perceptions and how people interpret the definition of leadership, there is no particular set or components that can truly be the definition of leadership. History have shown many leaders who have led in different ways but effective enough that have change the future and forever will be remember. Many of these great leaders we know today have shown many different sets of skills that proven to be effective, but most if not all we heavily show signs of being a servant leaders.
