The Negative Influence Of Hip-Hop Music On Teens
Rap and Hip-Hop music has been around since Grandmaster Flash and Furious Five with their track, The Message. Music in general is a major influence in a child's or teenager’s life. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, the average child listens to more than 2 1/2 hours of music daily. (1). www.livestrong.com Is this a good or bad thing for teenagers around the world? Rap music does not really make problems for teens who live in a balanced/healthy lifestyle. According to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Amy Morin warns that:

Ultimately, it is upon us to decide what we surround ourselves with. Some reasons why people think rap is a bad influence is the how blacks are dominant in the Rap genre. Hip-Hop and Rap talk about experiences of teens growing up in areas where music can look to be the only ways out of poverty. Rap didn't create the ghetto. It just talks about it. This is because most blacks are the ones that live in poverty. There is also other kinds of lyrics in rap and hip-hop. For example, the rapper Logic. He is a rapper that raps about his childhood and that he had abusive parents and his siblings sold drugs and were in the streets. He also raps about women and sex but he does this to expand his fanbase and have some of his music in clubs to dance to. Many rappers do this like, A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Those are just a couple of rappers. Most of their music has lyrics that don’t talk about sex and drugs, but most people only notice the songs that

They are focusing on the mainstream type of rap and hip-hop but you don’t see them talk about rappers like Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, and Logic where they have lyrics that talk about childhood and have stories when they rap. Rap music is one of the most popular types of music now. This is a new generation where rap and hip-hop is where it’s at. So quit hating.
