In The night has a Thousand Eyes Bourdillon I believe is trying to show that we should not have negative thoughts bring us down whether if were in a great state of mind or not. This poem is we should try to stay positive with our hearts and with that positive and happy spirits will control us. Bourdillon in the first stanza states “ The night has a thousand eyes, /And the day but one; /Yet the light of the bright world dies /With the dying sun”. This explains the stars are the eyes watching us and they sun is hear in the day time only before it becomes night. This shows the day and night cna perhaps tell your mood and give you a sign of how to reach to any situation …show more content…
Simic talks about how excited everyone gets for this fun events and looks forward in what can happen on this very night. Simic mentions “Grandmothers who wring the necks/ Of chickens; old nuns/ With names like Theresa, Marianne,/ Who pull schoolboys by the ear”. Simic describes all of the great actions that happen that lead up to this great ball dancing which shows us he always tend to cherish this very memory every time when events like these happen. It shows us he always looks forward to these type of things to happen during this event so he has some tradition to always look forward to every year like many of us look forward to spring break or summer vacation every year while were in school. Also he states “And the ancient lovers, cheek to cheek,/ On the dance floor of the Union Hall,/ Where they also hold charity raffles/ On rainy Monday nights of an eternal November”.This shows us that he enjoys how people tend to greet each other and that people are always happy and in a good mood and nothing disturbs that. This shows when people begin to gather together they always make themselves have a good time and enjoy the company that is around them. Even when a person may not be in a good place all of those problems go out the window which makes you forget that issues you may have. This poem definitely reflects on memory and how much a person should cherish the memories and traditions until you one day cannot enjoy
