In “Like the Sun” Sekhar, the main character repeats multiple times “Truth is like the sun.” I understood this as saying without truth, you can’t grow, like living things can’t survive without sun. In the story, Mr.Nuttel goes to a place for a formal doctor visit and comes across a 15 year old girl. The girl proceeds to ramble on about her aunt, the doctor, and her accident. In the end of the story, Mr.Nuttel leaves in a rush, and the doctor is left confused. Mr.Nuttel had left because of the crazy stories,which were lies, that he had heard from the little girl. She continued to tell her aunt another lie about why Mr.Nuttel probably left in such a rush. An example of irony in this story could be that since Mr.Nuttel was ill, he thought the little girl's’ story about the accident was true, but when he saw the doctor is was the girl's aunt, and her dog who had supposedly not recovered from the accident. An example of a paradox in the story could be when Mr.Nuttel’s sister said, “you will bury yourself down there and not speak to a living soul, and your nerves will be worse than ever from moping around.” this could be saying that Mr.Nuttel isn’t gonna enjoy being down there, like his sister didn’t, he just didn’t know about the girls “stories.”
In conclusion, yes both stories have their similarities...but they also have their differences. Narayan and Saki had both wrote stories about opposite things, but both tied together to give the same general idea.
