According to Dixon, the claim made by scientists in beginning of the 19th century that “the brain is the organ of the mind” raise a question that “if the brain is a product of the mind, how is it possible for an immortal soul to exist.”(p.106) However, phrenology studies reveal that “the different parts of the brain under the ‘bumps’ on the skull were correlated with different mental traits.” Although many scientists since then have raised questions as to the detail methods phrenology of conclusions were wrong, however the basic ideas of that mental functions do correlate with different parts of the brain, seems to be fruitful. Religious believers have the view that mind and morality is for supernatural accounts and it cannot be explained as natural phenomena while scientist believe that can be explained as natural phenomena and has nothing to do with religious experience or supernatural.
