Betty Marie spent part of her childhood in Oklahoma. Betty found ballet which brought her out her shell. She took her first lesson at four years old. Betty from than on did ballet. After a couple years and many lessons she started to master and perform at concerts and later a local star.
Betty performed at rodeos and county fairs after she got extremely popular. Betty acknowledge that her talent could be better. She knew their was room for improvements. Betty at one of
the fairs had an instructor come up and said to her that she has talent but she problely didn’t learn that basics. They realized that he was right and went back to the beginning.
Betty thought that the instructor was trying to criticize her. Betty knew that she had to do better. The more she practiced her skills grew and grew. People in dancing considered her special. Betty still encountered prejudice but she later became a state star. On June 29 that day was called Maria Tall chief day to honor her.
Betty encountered prejudice but never gave up. She later moved to the California reservation and kepted dancing. She always loved dancing she never got enough of it. She took criticism and got better. She even took criticism in her school she show them who’s the better dancer
