Kino and Juana’s relationship switched because of the pearl. They thought the pearl was suppose to be helping their family, not destroying it. Juana explained to Kino many times in the book how evil this pearl really was. Juana stated “Kino this is evil, let us destroy it’’ (56). At the end of the book Kino and Juana wanted to sell the pearl at the capital. But while they were traveling the trackers went to hunt them down. “ Kino heard the harsh click as he cocked the rifle” (86). The pearl turned evil when Coyotito died. Kino didn’t realize the way the pearl was changing him tell his son left. Kino and Juana moved on and went back to their village. They both threw the Pearl back into the ocean where it belonged. When the Pearl disappeared they knew everything was back to normal and they were both equal again. At the end of the story they realize that the pearl of the world is just an original pearl. The value of the pearl is worth as much as the rest. When Kino went to go find the pearl he ripped it from it’s natural habitat. The karma from nature destroyed Kino’s family. The greed destroyed Kino and Juana in the beginning of the story. After Coyotito died they had a bigger perspective on life.
