Jason Burnham wanted to photograph more than just imagery of snowy mountains and heroes, but what he got instead, was a beautiful but dangerous unraveling. The trip to the Himalayas broke him down exposing the nature of his true character.
Jason grew up looking up to an Ethnographer, learning the wonders of the world. His father, Daniel Burnham, knew everything about any country. Every capital, currency, and language. However, out of all the countries and all the magnificent stories his father shared with Jason, the story involving the Himalayas and the abominable Yeti, had always interested him the most. A black bear stuck his head inside his tent and dragged him out by pulling his foot. Next thing he knew, a black bear was chewing in his arm. He screamed, and screamed but the bear bit harder. Its claws dig into his skin. The bear jumped up and down on his two legs breaking Jason’s ribs. As the bear continued to bite and shake side to side Jason’s defenseless body, the sour pain started to crawl up his body like if ants were biting every cell of his body. However, something inside Jason convinced him to keep going, He told to himself, ‘’play dead’’. After that, he went totally limp, and as soon as he went limp, the bear’s jaws instantly got looser and looser. The bear let him go and went away.
