On the current assignment I chose the Swift’s A Modest Proposal to write about. The reason I chose this topic it caught my attention of selling children to the kingdom for food to clean their street of beggars. I will be giving my opinion on the author’s way of cleaning the streets of one kingdom. I must really say “WOW” after reading this proposal.
The surprise ending to me was that author says that he has the least personal interest in endeavoring to promote the work of selling kids for food. He had no further motive than for the public of his country. By advancing trade of young children would relief the poor and give the rich pleasure of a good meal on the table. The most surprising thing was when says I have no children to offer for single penny and his wife cannot have children for them to get any money.
Reading this proposal I was surprised that there were elements people come up with to save a country from its poor people. The of surprise came when the author talks about at one years old that he propose that that mother feed their young child and sell them were they would not be a raiment for the rest of their life. The other thing that was surprising was using the left over skin for gloves and other etc.
To evaluate on the author of success in convincing me to accept the validity of surprise ending was when the author says do not judge his opinion. He gone to say he is not bent on his own opinion but it a cheap and easy way it would effect. People would be able to have food to eat and people would be able to pay their rent for taverns. So, by using humans as live stock would save that kingdom because other countries have become successful with it. Looking at the bigger picture I do get it and I disagree with the whole thing.
