This gives a larger reliable answer towards one case due to multiple participants giving correlative answers. Another strength in this investigation is as said above, the ecological validity. This is due to the experiment using real police officers and were therefore able to produce a natural setting and situation. On the other hand, because of this there is an increase in the chances of external factors being able to affect or alter the findings. To give a supplementary example, one of the many factors that could affect the results could be performance pressure as the officers knew they were tested. It is important to keep in mind that there is no singular behaviour or expression of deception. There are only a wide spectrum of queues to show possible deception. Just as normal lie detectors, micro-expressions are indicators of problematic thinking and feelings. This could therefore trigger feelings that could show signs of deception such as stress, psychological discomfort, anxiety, dislike, issues, or tension, but not deception as a definite. This is why there is research being investigated on the basis of creating a more accurate lie detecting machine, to potentially be able to control more variables.
