The Pros And Cons Of Raising Minimum Wage

Does increasing the price of goods just to raise minimum wage sound like a good idea? There is debate whether the minimum wage should be raised. Everyone probably has a different take on the idea of this. It wont actually decrease poverty, which is why the whole thing is being brought up; because people assume it, will. My point is that the minimum wage should not be raised. Minimum wage is not just about somebodies income. Raising it will have much greater affect on the economy. The cost of goods and housing will go up. The reason the price of those things will go up is because we still have to help cover the cost of workers. By increasing the minimum wage it will decrease ones desire to further their education. Raising the minimum wage would take away the importance of education.
Granted minimum wage workers will always be needed. I feel like if minimum wage isn’t raised them it will encourage people to improve their education. We can earn more money as long as we work for it. Minimum wage is a stepping-stone; it’s not something you are supposed to rely on our whole life. Some people think they will be making more, but they are mistaken. They are actually going to be making less because they won’t get the subsidies. Right now if I make minimum wage there are programs that subsidize my income, such as food stamps and Medicaid. If we raise the minimum wage people wont qualify for the subsidies and won’t be able to afford to live. Raising the minimum wage diminishes the need for some government programs. I firmly believe raising the minimum wage would be an awful idea. People would think minimum wage should be raise, they are wrong and it will hurt them and everyone else. No one will want to attend college. All of the goods will increase in price, and we will lose our subsidies. The economy will be better off, if the government decides against
