It is a part of the ancient city of Thebes (Dorman, Peter). The Valley of the Kings is a burial site of almost all the pharaohs from 1539-1075 BCE (Dorman, Peter). The pharaohs from that time period feared for the safety of their rich burials. They chose to conceal their tombs in a valley in the western hills behind Dayr al-Bahri (Dorman, Peter). The tombs have descending corridor with deep shafts and pillared chambers to confuse robbers (Dorman, Peter). The cases were covered with “sculptured and painted scenes” of the pharaohs with god and goddess. There were also magical texts to help the pharaohs on their journey in the afterlife (Dorman, Peter). All tombs were cleared out in the 21st dynasty to protect the mummies and to recycle the treasures back into the royal treasury. Tutankhamen’s tomb was discovered in 1922 under pile of rock chippings. The treasures in his tomb indicated “how rich the burial of a great pharaoh” must have been during that time (Dorman,…

Both the Maya and the Egyptians constructed these enormous pyramids that in a way stand as memorials to their ancient civilizations. The Mayan built shrines, temples, and pyramids in honor of their gods, and their kings. Most of the Mayan pyramids were temples to the gods, the Maya did sometimes bury their rulers, but the temple always remained on the top of the pyramid no matter what. Mayan pyramids were not only burial tombs like Egyptian pyramids, whose primary purpose was funerary, containing mortuary chambers. Egyptians had temples also, but theirs would be somewhere near the pyramid or right next to it, for the ceremonial services, but it was never placed on top of the structure because Egypt's pyramids come to a point at the top (The…

At around 1800 B.C., Egyptian pyramid-building was stopped once and for all. Historians are still left wondering exactly why they stopped building pyramids, but there are some known facts about the end of pyramid-building. Once pharaohs stopped being buried in pyramids, they were buried in tombs cut from rock, typically on mountainside. Also, the grave robberies went down greatly, most likely due to the fact that the graves were no longer very easily accessible.…

All the hard work that went into the pyramids was all done for the Pharaoh. Many people spent lots of time working on the art that was carved and painted in the pyramids. They built the pyramids so the pharaoh could live forever and believed in the afterlife. The people who worked on the pyramids had to live in separate towns than everyone else. It is amazing how the Egyptians built such big structures with such little technology because they were perfect in almost every dimension, it was all done by the physical strength of men, and many of the pyramids still stand…

I believe that the best practices in early childhood education include children’s ideas, parent’s values and teacher’s suggestions. All of these will benefit children’s learning as well as give them a good understanding of the environment around them. Teachers should be flexible with the daily schedule and open to different learning opportunities. This way, children will have less structured time and more opportunities to explore and learn. As I observe in some of the childcare centers, children do not have enough time to play or finish their investigation and projects. They are hurried to be putting their toys away, and this does not benefit their learning. Teachers should encourage children to explore and investigate the topic further. The center’s policies should exclude time outs, as it does not improve children’s behavior, but rather stimulates him to get more attention. Teachers should encourage children to solve problems, and help them out if they see that serious issue occurs. Also, the physical environment has a big impact on best practices too. It should be filled with warm colors and feel like home to children. If the children will feel like at home, they will feel safe, which will benefit their learning.…
