What is the movie about?
‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ directed by Gabrielle Muccino, a film based on a man name Chris Gardner’s with his struggles of being homeless for almost one year and along his side was his young son and wife. They struggled to pay off their rent and were often chased out by the rent owner. Chris and his wife were selling off the portable bone-density scanners that they have invested their entire life savings on. Willingly assuming they had hit jackpot with the bone-density scanners they later on found out that all the scanners were now not so ‘useful’ to the doctors and were stuck in a load of debts as they now have no money to survive on. Chris’s wife, Linda, who is working as a hotel maid while Chris is out demonstrating to doctors on how the scanners worked to sell them off just to pay for their sons childcare tuitions and for a bit of money to survive on. On Chris Gardner’s journey to find money and a job, he has experienced many obstacles, losing and having his scanners stolen for trusting a hippie girl while he had an interview with the famous Dean Witter Reynolds; also he had also ran into another incident where he lost a scanner to a man at the railway station, believing it was a time machine. As it gets tougher to find money for the rent and survive on, Chris’s wife, Linda has decided she would leave Chris, taking his son with her. Chris, though, refuses to let his wife Linda take away his son, thus he then began his journey as an internship at Dean Witter Reynolds and searching desperately for a home to stay at with his son, Christopher. During the 10months of his training as an internship at Dean Witter Reynolds Chris had sold the last scanner he had to help him get by with Christopher and finally he had taken the final exam as an internship to qualify him for the job. Chris had received great news on his last day as an intern that he had gotten the job and will be paid a salary at Dean Witter Reynolds’s.
