At the age of twenty-seven married Virginia Clemm who was about fourteen years old and had a happy marriage until 1842 when Virginia contracted tuberculosis the same disease that killed his mother, brother, and foster mother and soon dyeing in 1847. Virginias death caused Poe to be devastated making unable to write for months. In January 1845 with the publication of “The Raven” made Poe very famous as a writer and drawing big crowds to his lecture as he traveled. The man dwelled on the death of Lenore, which left him depressed. He sees the raven coming to him as a sign of him being crazy and that he was imagining it. The man is trying to move on after the loss of Lenore, but cannot because he is unable to forget Lenore. Once he does forget Lenore the raven will also leave because the raven is represents his mourning.
Annabel Lee is the last poem complete poem by Poe published in October 9, 1849 where the narrator is remembering Annabel lee the long lost love when they both lived “in a kingdom by the sea” when they were kids and where in love so much that even the angels in heaven noticed and were jealous. When a wind came down from the clouds that made Annabel lee sick and soon killed her narrator blames the angels for killing Annabel lee. When Annabel lee did die her family came to take her away from the narrator and shut her up in a tomb where she is laid to rest.
The narrator is proving that his love for Annabel lee was not just a teenage crush. The narrator believes that not even death is going to separate him from Annabel lee. The devils and angels would not be able to keep him away and keeps remembering Annabel lee everywhere in his dreams and even in the stars and moon.
