The Raver Community Analysis
There seems to be this strange divide in the raver community. Throughout time people have always hated anything different. Why is that? Simple there is a genuine lack of understanding. This lack of understanding seems to cause many emotions. Hate, anger, and fear are usually the most common emotions felt. These emotions are often born due to a general lack of understanding of these other groups. How do we fix this within our lovely community? Simple you fix it by at least attempting to understand another point of view. If you educate yourself on another group and what they think. You can understand or respect it. There is no real need for hate if thereis a true understanding of the topic. I’d much rather there be an attitude of that’s just not for me than hate. My true desire is congruency.
We claim to be the sacred home for the different. The

If we did all like everything and had the same taste. I imagine we would be like the workers in The Lego Movie. Singing everything is awesome day in and day out. Not realizing we have no choice in the matter; that sounds like a dull life to live day in and day out. Thankfully of course in the raver community you have all sorts. We all like different music, styles of expression, people, levels of sobriety and events. That's what makes this community so beautiful. It's time we embrace those differences and learn from each other. Let's take this time to grow and become a congruent family.
The goal is for as many people as possible to learn and appreciate all elements of the community. So no worries, I'll do the work for you. Think of me as the raver urban dictionary. There will often be post that address my thoughts on different elements of the community. Over time the plan is to cover all elements of the community. If I miss any awesome groups let me know. This right here will be a new base of knowledge for the always growing raver community.

I came into this scene when I went to reave called “Awakening” in 2008.After I attended this rave with some friends I decided I wanted to experience more of the rave scene and so I did. This so called rave scene has its own culture and community. When you become part of the scene you start to notice fellow ravers start speaking about P.L.U.R. which sounds like a mission statement. What it stands for is peace, love, unity, and respect. When you go to raves you can tell ravers follow this so called mission statement because they are friendly, giving, and helpful with whatever you need. Another thing I liked when I went to raves was when ravers were switching kandi with other fellow ravers. Kandi is a bracelet made out of beads. These bracelets are a symbol of unity between one another.…

In the article “Clean Up the Dance Halls” Elisabeth Perry examines the age of the Progressive Era and the efforts by the reformers to get rid of unregulated dance halls. Perry adds how dance halls that provided “stylish drinks” and guaranteed popularity influenced many innocent girls to leave their households to embrace a life of alcohol, unmoral dancing, and eventually sexually relations with strangers. Perry also adds how the girls could not resist a man's love despite it meaning that they would loose their “girlhood.” One of the prominent reformers during this time was Belle Israels who sought to protect girls from being “played with” and sought to put an end to dance halls. As a result, the Progressive Era stirred together different social issues which usually led to controversy and tension as seen in the dance hall reform.…

Diversity is a grandiose characteristic with which this world can be identified with, whether it is on a macro level that varies from country to country or more intimately, from person to person. Those with the same interests and beliefs tend to drift and congregate with each other. Name the topic of controversy and both sides will have supporting members. Numerous groups in history that sprouted from controversial topics can be used to portray this idea, there is one closer to home that is still of large importance today: slavery. The land that was settled had been divided up into the North and the South where slave owners and those against slavery bickered, until it escalated into a Civil War. Some would say slavery was relatively humane and reasonable, while others think more along the lines of harsh and cruel exploitation.…

`Raving is a highly emotional experience. Any attempt to analyze or experience the culture recognizes the highly personal component the experience offers. Participating in a rave presents a long period of constant electronic dance music along with highly energetic dance styles exhibited by a large group of people. Along with the vigorous dance moves and obnoxious music, the people participating in the culture wear very little clothes. Since the idea of raving was introduced, a lot of controversy was made known due to the activities that occur at the rave. Throughout the many different things present ,such as variety of history and spirituality, the world was introduced to a new culture.…

Raves is one of the ways that youth can indeed have their own spaces to express themselves. It was interesting to read about how raves can immolate tribal cultures through the music, drugs, and dance. I believe that this tells us a lot about American culture today. American culture today I have noticed is always looking back to the past in order to gain inspiration about how to make our country better. While this article was written back in the 90’s, I notice even today that young people take influence from the past in their subculture. A lot of video games for example like Assassin’s Creed III takes place in the American Revolution. A few years ago I myself wore feathers in my hair as it was part of a trend at the…

Each of the Families and villages within the Shaker community consisted of approximately a hundred members, who were governed by elders and eldresses. The Shakers were highly organized people, and they set up a system of people inside their “tribes” so that each person has their own position and label. They were stroke with heavy responsibilities to care for the spiritual needs and became bastions for young Believers, maintaining the order and union of Shakers. The Shakers all believed and hoped that “through the prosperity and orderliness of their villages they would create a better society” (Nicoletta 33).…

My favorite one is the sneaker head community. What is a sneaker head? A sneaker head is a person who buys shoes to wear and collect. It has become a culture, and has made this sneaker loving community have its own way of speaking, writing, behaving, and showing what we value. We have certain slang in the sneaker head community.…

As you look around yourself, you can notice all the diverse races within one room. We are all made up differently from the way we dress to the type of music we listen to. You can’t judge someone based off of the kind of music they listen to because it makes them who they are. There is a variety of music genres for us to choose from like pop, rock & roll, rap, r & b, even classical. But what make us even more unique are the worst songs that we could ever love.…

Over the past few years a seemingly never-ending debate about music has been present among the members of our community. The dispute usually derives from a disagreement concerning our treatment of musical styles outside of our own personal taste, and more importantly, our attitude towards the opinion and taste of others that deviates from our own. First of all, what do we consider psychedelic? Do we make distinctions between musical genres according to their „psychedelicness?” How do we treat different subgenres? How do we approach electronic musical styles other than trance that have some psychedelic quality? Are they – in a way – subordinate to trance? Does some kind of hierarchy exist according to the assumed „psychedelicness” of genres? Continues on page 2 ASTROLOGY…

    The Nature of Community

The idea of the American community is deceptively simple, as long as one does not require a rigid definition. The term evokes a rich imagery associated with the "country village," the "small town," or the "big city" of an earlier day. One thinks of the country village's Main Street, with its several stores and post office, and the streets, houses, and lawns that immediately surround it in the setting of an enveloping prairie, dairy-farm country, or forest. One recalls the road that traverses the five, ten, or twenty miles—seldom more except in the Far West—connecting it with a small city. Here in the small city is a larger population, a greater variety of shops and services, a daily newspaper, a series of wholesale establishments serving surrounding villages, perhaps a college or university, a hospital, a number of industries. Or one imagines the larger city with its concentration of people, its burgeoning suburbs, its businesses, medical center, museums, department stores, and newspapers that serve a large section of the state or perhaps parts of several states.…

Funny enough, America is known as the land of the free, but ironically we are still fighting the restrictions of social enclosure. Our society spews its conformist values on anything it surrounds, and in the moment that one seems "different", we quiver. Amongst these individuals are ravers, members of a grossly misunderstood sub-culture that often encounters stereotypical generalizations. However, ravers are nothing of a menace to society, but the heart of culturally acceptable behaviours.…
