At the start of the book Frankenstein’s brain is truly twisted. The way that he thinks of his work and how it blinds him to what he is really creating. It is not until the monster is alive and breathing that he truly sees what he has done. This is clearly stated in this quote from Shelly’s book (page 42 paragraph
3). At this point he finally comes to realization of what he has done.
He is disgusted by what he creates and leaves to his dorm where he falls asleep for the night. He is awoken by some movement which turns out to be his creation. He takes one look at his creation and sprints out of the room. So frightened by his creation he stays outside for the rest of the night walking back and forth thinking of what he should do rather than taking on his responsibilities as the monster's creator.
