The United States was disatisfied by the way the Britich government was treating them. Though they did try to avoid a war it was useless as the Birtish thought they had the United States under control and just needed tighter controlling. So they continued to push laws onto the states and ignore their requests for represetation."that both the people may know their duty, and be safe and secure within the limits of theh law; and the rulers too kept within their bonds." DOC 1 This had the opposite effect of what was intended. After the revolution one of the many principles created for the new government was put into the Declaration of Independec. "men are created equal...that to secure these rights, the goverments are instituted among men, dervin their just powers from the consent of the governed,- that whenever any form of government becomes detructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter of abolish it" doc 2 this shows that the power of the govenrment to be destroyed was given to the people and all people were created this is was just one of the ways that the government wanted to show that the goverment wouldnt become dictarial along with the Bill of rights to the constituion. "Freedom hath been hunter round the globe" 3 during the times of slavery a set of rules were set by slave owners for blacks but if the law is king why would they be allowed to make laws for a specific race and have this be justified and followed. "Freedom hath been hunted around the globe" talks about how the Blacks have been stripped of freedom as they didn't come to America for the joy of new land but were stolen from their own and made into slaves."all men are created equal" But the men who were forced into slavery were not. Nice enough, there were people who saw wrong from this, showing that there were still some that upheld the principles that were set after the revolution. "THe case of oppressed blacks commands out attention...the admission of [Blacks] members into our religious society is at all time matter of weight a base convince of the rectitude of our principles" doc 5 it wasn't just limited to blacks but also woman who were denied based on sex "Will it be said that the judgement of a male of two years olf, is more sage than that of a female of the same age?...Yes, ye lorldy, ye haughty sex, our souls, are by nature equal to yours; the same breath of God animates, enlivens, and invigorates us..." doc
