The resurrection means forgiveness and freedom from past mistakes and future mistakes. There is freedom from guilt and condemnation. The fact that God sent his own son to die for me demonstrates God’s love for me and that He cared enough for me to sacrifice his own son. The resurrection also means life. Without Jesus, we were condemned to death. Now, if you believe that Jesus died and rose for you, you can receive life. Because of the resurrection, and the fact that I accepted Jesus into my heart, I have forgiveness, the guarantee of going to heaven, and a new beginning in Christ. Also, we find a place to lay down our burdens at the foot of the cross. The cross and the tomb also represent a place of healing and hope. Furthermore, the resurrection demonstrates God’s grace and mercy, as well as God’s defeat of death and of the devil. Interestingly, the resurrection symbolizes the first time that people can have a direct relationship with Christ, by ripping the temple division into two. The resurrection wiped away our past (although not always the consequences), gives us hope for today, and hope for the future. If God loves us so much that He sent his son to die for us, he would not forget about us today or in the future. The resurrection also shows me how powerful my God is. Who else has defeated death themself? Death cannot even hold Jesus back. He is all powerful and has mighty strength, which also dwells in us if we have the Holy Spirit inside of our hearts. This same power defeated the devil on the day of the resurrection. If my God can rise from the dead, defeat death, defeat the devil, change the course of history, and change the world all in one millisecond, I should never fear that He does not have the power to take care of the problems in today’s world, the problems of this country, and the problems in my own
