The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening are both very good poems. I feel The Road Not Taken is one that reminds me of myself. I will tell you how they differ but at the same time are so much alike. In The Road Not Taken he lets us know that he has to make a decision. In order to make that decision he looks as far as he can to see what road he wants to take. He talks about how the path he took may have been the better on for him. It had been the one less traveled on. In Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening he also has a decision to make. He is walking with his horse in the woods. There are no other people around on this snowy night. He stops

    The poem starts off with the title “The Road Not Taken.” At first sight this title could be used as foreshadow that the following poem will be about making a mistake, not making the right choice (not taking the right road) therefore establishing a gloomy, mournful tone. It promises that the poem will be about a road not taken or the road that the author does take “because it was grassy and wanted wear.” Another possible foreshadow of the title is that in the poem it does not matter which road you take because as far as the author can see, on both roads, “Had worn them really about the same” and making a decision was quite an arduous task. A profound understanding of the poem will let the reader know that this title is a contradiction since really the author did not take any of the roads since he was still indecisive on which road to take. Though the title is contradictory to the subject of the poem it adds to the MAIN meaning of the poem. It excludes the poem from being interpreted as the author showing nonconformity (“I took the road less travelled by, And that has made all the difference”) which could only apply if the title was called “The Road Less Travelled.” A common, mistakenly chosen, main subject of the poem is regret. “And sorry I could not travel both,” “I kept the first for another day!” “I shall be telling this with a sigh.” True, there is a lot of regret within the poem and fear of making the wrong choice but it still misses the main idea of ACTUAL title which is “The Road Not Taken.” The title does play a considerably big part in the MAIN subject of the poem though it is still contradictory to the, on-the-surface, meaning of it. (It will be explained on the paragraph below).…

    In The Road Not Taken, Frost uses the paths as a metaphor for life in general. He says "Two roads diverge in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood." In these phrases, Frost is explaining that he is in a situation where he has to make a decision. This hints that some of us spend time deliberating over which would be the best decision when we are put in a situation where we have to choose one thing or the other. This also explains how the protagonist was procrastinating in which road to take, the road that was less travelled by or the road that has certainly been walked on.     "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost is a poem that is often to simply interpreted by readers. The poem speaks of a common scenario in life. A traveler has come to a crossroads and is forced to make a choice on which "road", or path of life, he wants to choose. Both paths are inspected equally, and the traveler makes a choice and continues down the road. The common interpretation is that the author is happy with his choice. He decides to choose the road less traveled, and for that reason he is able to say "with a sigh" in his old age that he has chose the correct road, and that it has changed his life for the better. The decision he has made has paid off, he is not just a regular joe, he has lived an adventure by choosing the less traveled road.
