This family consisted of a mom, dad, and four grimy girls who never lacked the need for a brush and tissue. Ashley heard from the angry whispering between the mom and dad (Stephanie and Brent) that the father had recently been terminated from his position as a security guard for the small shopping center in the higher-end part of town. This necessitated the needs for extra funds and ultimately led to Ashley’s transfer from eastern Idaho. The horrendous cycle continued- poor families need a little extra cash and foster children are sent to live on nothing.
Ashley struggled adjusting to new foster families. More often than not, she found the solution to this problem by distancing herself from any kind of love or affection a new family might show her. Ashley grew into a hard, intelligent, and composed teenager who constantly found herself facing off with the school bullies in the parking lot.
