the story begins with Claveles and her grandfather venturing, on foot to the city. They were poor but they weren't beggars. They were focus on finding the department of Welfare. He work very carefully and did his work step by step. He was illiterate but he was smart. Picero and his wife, Amparo had 13 children and only 5 survived, their youngest son, who was in the military, brought home in newborn baby-girl.
