John Proctor from what many have read, seems to be a pretty, respectable man. Although he has overcome what he has done, his actions has led to questioning from people who though highly of him as well as his wife Elizabeth. He did not however, have this flaw bring him down from his goal of trying to convince the town that the girls were frauds.
John Proctor performs a task no one in his town would dare
do, although he commit to his task and never gave to the court even if it meant him sacrificing his life to keep his name. He saved his wife, Elizabeth, from execution so that Abigail would not have the chance to be anything more than his mistress.
In conclusion, John Proctor starts as a common, respectable man to a tragic hero. No matter what the cost of his task was, he did not back down from believing what he thought was right. His flaw creates a downfall towards himself yet he saved his name and wife from going into destruction.
