When Daisy, and Gatsby reunited at Nick’s house Daisy pointed out how long it’s been since they last saw each other “We haven’t met for many years.’ Said Daisy, her voice as matter-of-fact as it could ever be. A house surrounded by ashes, a mechanics shop, a few “friends” but there is something that makes up for all of this, and that is Myrtle. Wilsons obsession for Myrtle is shown by the way he is willing to do anything to keep her. At Tom and Myrtle’s party in their apartment Myrtle was telling Catherine and her other friends how Wilson turned out to be not as rich as he seemed. “He borrowed somebody’s best suit to get married in, and never even told me about it” (Fitzgerald 35). Wilson wanted Myrtle so bad that he used someone else’s best outfit to try and convince Myrtle that he has money. After this though when Myrtle finds out about his lack of money, she cheats on him for other men. When Wilson finds out however, he is willing to do anything to keep her. While outside of his mechanic shop, Wilson is Telling tom about his plans for Myrtle. “She’s been talking about it for ten years [...] and now she’s going whether she wants to or not” (Fitzgerald 123). Now that Wilson is aware that Myrtle is having an affair he wants to get her away and move West against her will so he can have her all to himself. Later after Myrtle is struck down by Daisy and Gatsby, Wilson becomes hysterical. Right after the incident Wilson is talking to Michaelis in the mechanics shop. “I’m one of these trusting fellas and I don’t think harm to nobody, but when I get to know a thing I know it” (Fitzgerald 159).
